About

Built by people who read too many drawing sets

FOBECON started as a direct response to a specific problem: quantity takeoff by hand is slow, error-prone, and unchanged for decades. We set out to fix the reading part.

Our Story

Why we built this

Song Seok spent years building digital process tools for the construction industry. Working alongside estimating teams, he saw the same friction repeat on every project: the first two or three days of any bid period absorbed by counting elements in PDF drawing sets, marking pages by hand, and transferring figures to a spreadsheet before any actual cost analysis could begin.

The problem was not complexity. It was volume. A mid-rise commercial building can run to 180 drawing sheets. By the time an estimating team has read through the full set, three working days are gone and the bid window is narrowing.

In 2023, Song Seok co-founded FOBECON with Ji-ho Kwon to apply document understanding to this specific task. Not a general construction drawing viewer - a quantity extraction system built around how construction drawings actually communicate information: elements defined across multiple sheets, measurements tied to annotation layers, counts that require cross-referencing between floor plan and elevation.

FOBECON has been in continuous development since then. We ship improvements every few weeks based on feedback from the teams running the platform on real project bids. We are still a small team, and that is intentional.

Q1 2023

Company founded in Seoul. First internal prototype processes residential floor plans.

Q3 2023

Closed beta with 8 general contractor firms in the Seoul metro area. First commercial drawing sets processed.

Q1 2024

Public launch. Multi-page PDF support added. Cross-drawing element reconciliation shipped.

Q3 2024

Professional plan launched with PDF BOQ export and revision delta reports. Team seat access added.

2025

Scanned drawing support and Enterprise tier released. Extended to projects in Malaysia and Australia.

Team

The people who built FOBECON

A small team with deep backgrounds in construction practice and machine learning.

Song Seok, CEO and Co-Founder of FOBECON
Song Seok
CEO and Co-Founder

Years spent working in construction technology and digital process tools led Song Seok to co-found FOBECON. He observed how little the quantity takeoff workflow had changed despite advances in document processing elsewhere. Leads product direction and customer relationships.

Ji-Ho Kwon, CTO and Co-Founder of FOBECON
Ji-Ho Kwon
CTO and Co-Founder

Spent years building computer vision systems for structured document analysis before joining the construction technology space. Designed the drawing analysis model at the core of FOBECON and leads the engineering team.

Yuna Cho, Head of Customer Success at FOBECON
Yuna Cho
Head of Product

A former practising quantity surveyor who moved into construction technology product development. Brings the perspective of someone who has done hundreds of manual takeoffs to every product decision. Shapes how FOBECON's output matches real estimating workflows.
